PLAN CANADA SPONSOR CHILD: The grade 4/5/6 class is about to finish fundraising for our sponsor child, Pooja, from India. This is our 5th year with Plan Canada and our third year with this child. We are asking each student and teacher to donate $1 to help us complete our 2011-2012 campaign. Thanks to those who donated throughout the year and helped in this young girl’s education and health. Our students will be going to each class next week to accept your donations. Also, if you have any bottles that you would like to donate, they would be greatly appreciated. You can drop them off at the school or call the school to have them picked up.
SKI TRIP: is scheduled for grades 8 – 12 to the White Hills on February 29, 2012. Permission forms will go home today. Signed forms must be returned by Wednesday, February 22, 2012. Through the generosity of the School Sports Committee, this will be a free trip for students. The only cost associated with this trip will be their lunches.
THANK YOU: A big Thank-You to parents and school council members for a delicious pot luck lunch supplied during Teacher & Staff Appreciation Week!
STUDENT OF THE MONTH: will take place next Friday, February 25 at 2:25 p.m.
BUILDING ACCESS: Recently signs have been posted restricting access to the school beyond the main lobby. Persons who are neither students nor teachers of this school may not have access without the consent of the administration. This procedure follows the policies set down by the School Board and we, as a school, have not been as secure as we might have been. All sorts of things can happen when access is not restricted. For too long we have been complacent about security thinking that the terrible things that happen to other people can’t possibly occur here. The reality is that bad things can happen and to prevent this, access to the school building has been restricted. In the course of time, we may even be issued a doorbell and lock system that can only be operated from the main office. Times are changing and we must change with them.
